Wispr Flow launches Android app for AI-powered dictation

Launch Overview

Wispr Flow, an AI-powered dictation startup, announced the launch of its Android app, adding the platform to its existing suite for Mac, Windows, and iOS. The Android release follows an earlier iOS debut in June 2025 and introduces a distinct user experience that leverages a floating bubble for voice input.

Key Features

The Android app lets users activate dictation by holding the floating bubble or tapping it once to start, with a separate button to stop the process. In addition to transcription, the app automatically cleans up filler words and formats text based on the surrounding context. It also offers translation capabilities in over 100 languages and can operate across other applications on the device.

Technical Improvements

Alongside the new app, Wispr Flow performed an infrastructure rewrite that makes dictation 30% faster than previous versions. The company highlighted that Android finally provided the freedom to build the voice experience it envisioned, allowing the platform to “get out of the way” and enable voice to replace typing on mobile devices.

New Hinglish Model

Wispr Flow introduced a dedicated model for Hinglish—a blend of Hindi and English commonly used by speakers in India. The co‑founder and CEO, Tanay Kothari, explained that the model is the first to support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script, addressing the mixed‑language communication style of many users.

Early Adoption Metrics

During the early rollout to select users, the platform recorded more than 1.3 million spoken English words in just a few days. This rapid uptake underscores the demand for high‑quality, cross‑platform dictation solutions.

Funding Background

Wispr Flow has attracted substantial venture capital interest. In June, the startup secured $30 million in a round led by Menlo Ventures, and later in November, it raised $25 million in a round led by Notable Capital. To date, the company has raised $81 million, with its most recent valuation reported at $700 million.
