Uninstall or Disable AI‑Driven Apps

The Pixel ecosystem includes several apps that rely heavily on AI. Users can start by removing the Journal app, which is optional, and the dedicated Screenshots app that processes images for searchable content. Disabling the AI portion of the Screenshots app also clears any previously generated metadata.

Adjust Settings in Core Google Apps

In Google Photos, the Gemini features can be turned off individually or disabled entirely via the profile icon → Settings → Preferences. Options such as "Ask Photos," Gemini‑powered memories, and automatic title suggestions are available.

Within the Messages app, the Gemini button can be removed by navigating to the profile icon → Message settings → Gemini and toggling the button off.

The Phone app contains AI assistance under the Call Assist section. Users can open the app, select the menu, go to Settings, and disable the AI features there.

System‑Level Controls

Pixel’s Circle to Search navigation mode can be disabled by going to Settings → Display & touch → Navigation Mode and toggling the feature off.

The Pixel launcher’s search bar includes an AI mode toggle. Access the Google app, tap the profile icon → Settings → Customize Pixel Search Box, and turn AI Mode off for a cleaner home screen.

Switch Back to Google Assistant

Gemini serves as the primary digital assistant, but users can revert to the traditional Google Assistant. Open Gemini, select the profile icon, choose "Switch to Google Assistant," confirm the change, and then uninstall Gemini if desired. Before uninstalling, users may review their Gemini Apps Activity to delete any retained data.

By following these steps, Pixel owners can effectively reduce or remove AI functionality while preserving the core performance of their devices.
