Meta’s newest wearable, the Ray‑Ban Display glasses, places a full‑color, high‑resolution screen in the right lens. Users can view messages, take video calls, read live captions, see walking directions, and preview photos taken with a built‑in 12‑megapixel camera. Interaction is handled through a wristband that enables scrolling, clicking and gesture‑based input. The glasses offer up to six hours of mixed‑use battery life, or up to 30 hours when paired with a collapsible charging case. They are priced at $799 and will be sold in the United States at Best Buy, LensCrafters and Ray‑Ban stores starting at the end of September.

Second‑Generation Ray‑Ban Smart Glasses

Meta also refreshed its original Ray‑Ban smart glasses. The new version extends battery life to eight hours—nearly double the original—and retains the 12‑megapixel ultra‑wide camera, now capable of 3K video capture at 60 fps. The charging case received an upgrade, providing an extra 48 hours of charge compared with the previous 36‑hour capacity. A “conversation focus” feature will amplify the speaker’s voice in noisy environments. These glasses launch at $379 and are available in the Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner styles.

Oakley Meta Vanguard Glasses for High‑Intensity Sports

In partnership with Oakley, Meta introduced the Vanguard glasses, designed for demanding athletic activities. The wrap‑around frames carry an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and integrate with fitness platforms such as Garmin and Strava. Users can query Meta AI for fitness data. The lenses house a 12‑megapixel, 122‑degree camera capable of 3K video, slow‑motion, time‑lapse and hyper‑lapse capture. Upgraded speakers and up to nine hours of battery life support longer sessions. The Vanguard glasses are priced at $499 and will be offered in four frame and lens color combinations.

Quest 3 Software Enhancements: Hyperscape and Horizon TV

Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets received a new spatial‑mapping capability called Hyperscape. The feature scans a user’s surroundings and converts them into a digital space, with a beta available through the Hyperscape Capture app. Additionally, Meta launched Horizon TV, an entertainment hub inside Quest headsets that aggregates streaming services. The hub now includes Disney Plus, ESPN, Hulu, Prime Video, Peacock, Twitch and YouTube, and supports Dolby Atmos surround sound. Meta plans to add Dolby Vision later in the year, and certain movies will feature immersive special effects visible only in Quest headsets.

Underlying Platforms: Horizon Engine and Horizon Studio AI

Both the Hyperscape feature and Horizon TV run on Meta’s Horizon Engine, which delivers improved graphics, faster performance and larger virtual worlds. Meta also announced an upgrade to Horizon Studio, integrating an agentic AI assistant that helps users stitch together existing AI tools for virtual‑world creation.
