DJI, the market leader in consumer drones, is expanding into the smart‑home arena with its ROMO line of robot vacuums. By repurposing the "omnidirectional obstacle sensing" system that keeps its drones aloft, DJI has created vacuums that navigate homes with millimeter‑precise detection, machine‑learning route planning, and high‑power suction. The ROMO family includes three models—ROMO S, ROMO A, and ROMO P—priced from roughly $650 to $950, and will debut in China before reaching overseas markets later this year. The move also positions DJI to sidestep upcoming U.S. restrictions on drone imports.
