Google has added a feature to its Gemini mobile app that lets users upload an image and ask whether it was created by Google AI. The tool relies on SynthID, an invisible watermark applied to AI‑generated images since 2023, and also displays a visible Gemini sparkle watermark on images from the free and Google AI Pro tiers. Users can simply type a query like “was this image generated by Google AI?” and receive a response based on the watermark detection and Gemini’s reasoning. Google is extending its AI Mode in Search to 180 countries, moving beyond its initial rollout in the United States, India and the United Kingdom. The feature, still limited to English, now lets users request restaurant reservations by specifying group size, date, location and cuisine preferences. Partnered with OpenTable, Resy and Tock, AI Mode pulls data from Google’s Knowledge Graph, Maps and Project Mariner to present available slots and direct booking links. The capability is currently offered only to subscribers of the Google AI Ultra plan via the Labs platform, and Google hints at future additions such as local service appointments and event ticketing with partners like Ticketmaster and StubHub. Google is expanding its AI Mode with additional features, including the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and Deep Search capability, available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers.
