Google is adding AI avatars, automatic transcript trimming, and image-to-video tools to its Vids video editor for Workspace users. At the same time, the company is launching a free consumer version that provides basic editing controls, access to templates, fonts, and stock media, but does not include the new AI features. Additional updates include a filler‑word removal tool and plans for noise cancellation, virtual backgrounds, and new aspect‑ratio support.
