Anthropic Expands Claude with Deep Integrations for Canva, Slack, and More
Expanded App Integrations
Anthropic announced that its Claude chatbot can now connect to several popular third‑party platforms. Among the first to be supported are Canva, Slack, Box, Asana, and Figma. These connections enable Claude to retrieve files, preview documents inline, and answer questions about content without leaving the host application.
For example, when linked to Box, Claude can search for files, display previews, and provide answers based on the documents it accesses. In Asana, the chatbot can turn natural‑language conversations into projects, tasks, and timelines that coworkers can later view and edit within the project‑management tool.
Functionality and Benefits
The new integrations turn Claude into a more practical assistant for day‑to‑day workflows. Users can ask Claude to fetch a design from Canva, get a status update from a Slack channel, or pull data from a shared Box folder, all through conversational prompts. By converting chat input into structured work items in Asana, Claude helps bridge the gap between informal discussion and formal project tracking.
Anthropic highlighted that nine launch partners are already live with the new capabilities, with notable names such as Canva, Figma, and Slack among them. This early adoption signals strong interest from a variety of productivity and creative tools.
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
The integrations are powered by Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol, a set of servers that simplify linking external systems to Claude. MCP was released in fall 2024 and has quickly become an industry standard. OpenAI adopted the protocol last year and has been extending its support. At the end of last year, Anthropic donated MCP to the Linux Foundation, making it an open‑source extension that other AI platforms can use to build similar integrations.
By providing a common framework, MCP enables seamless communication between Claude and third‑party apps, reducing the engineering effort required to create custom connectors. This openness is expected to accelerate the rollout of AI‑driven features across a broader ecosystem of software tools.
