AI Logistics Startup Augment Raises $85 Million Series A to Expand Freight Assistant

Funding Round and Investors

Augment disclosed a new Series A financing of $85 million, led by Redpoint and joined by investors including 8VC, Autotech Ventures, and others. This follows a $25 million seed round that helped launch the company from stealth mode.

Founder Background

Harish Abbott, who previously built and sold the e‑commerce shipping startup Deliverr to Shopify for $2.1 billion in 2022, founded Augment to address manual, repetitive tasks in freight logistics using artificial intelligence.

Product Overview – Augie

Augment’s flagship AI assistant, called “Augie,” handles seven core logistics functions: gathering and reviewing pricing bids, tracking shipments, constructing loads to maximize truck space, and collecting invoicing documents for timely billing. Augie operates across multiple communication channels, including voice, email, Slack, SMS, and Telegram, allowing it to streamline the extensive phone calls, emails, and texts that typically dominate freight operations.

Customer Impact

While many clients are still in trial phases, fully onboarded users such as Armstrong Transport Group have reported measurable productivity improvements, notably a 40% reduction in invoice delays. Abbott noted that the number of customers served has more than doubled since the seed round.

Growth Plans

The Series A proceeds will support hiring approximately 50 engineers and the addition of new features. Augment currently focuses on the trucking sector but envisions expanding into international shipping and broader logistics services. Abbott emphasized the fragmented, complex nature of the market and the need for extensive engineering resources to integrate with existing, often siloed, software systems.
