Anthropic Unveils Claude Managed Agents to Simplify Enterprise AI Automation

Anthropic rolled out Claude Managed Agents on Wednesday, offering a packaged environment that lets companies create, deploy and monitor autonomous AI agents without building the underlying infrastructure from scratch. The new service bundles a "harness"—a collection of software tools, memory modules and security layers—that wraps around Anthropic’s Claude models, turning them into agents capable of taking actions on behalf of users.

Developers can now spin up agents that run for hours in the cloud, toggle permissions for tool access, and operate inside a sandboxed setting that isolates code execution. According to Katelyn Lesse, head of engineering for the Claude Platform, the scaling problem that once required a dedicated engineering team "is now out of the box," freeing resources for core business functions.

Enterprise demand drives the offering

The launch arrives at a moment when Anthropic’s enterprise revenue is surging. The company disclosed that its annualized recurring revenue has climbed past $30 billion, roughly three times the figure reported in December 2025. Most of that growth stems from the Claude Platform, an API‑based product that lets developers tap Anthropic’s models for a variety of use cases.

Angela Jiang, head of product for the Claude Platform, said there’s a gap between what the models can do and how businesses are actually using them. "Claude Managed Agents enables any business to take best‑in‑class infrastructure and deploy a fleet of Claude agents to do whatever work they need," she explained.

In a demonstration for WIRED, Notion—a productivity startup—showcased how the new tool powers a client‑onboarding feature. Notion’s product manager, Eric Liu, walked through a dashboard where a Claude Managed Agent automatically tackled a list of onboarding tasks, pulling data from various tools and updating the Notion workspace in real time.

Wall Street investors have grown cautious about software stocks as Anthropic expands its enterprise suite, prompting speculation that robust AI platforms could render traditional SaaS offerings obsolete. While the market’s reaction remains mixed, Anthropic’s latest move underscores its commitment to capturing a larger slice of the growing AI‑automation market.
