Claude Deepens Integration with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Enhanced AI‑Powered Workflow Across Excel and PowerPoint

Anthropic introduced a series of updates that bring its Claude AI chatbot closer to everyday productivity tools in the Microsoft 365 suite. The new capabilities focus on streamlining the way users move between Excel and PowerPoint, removing the need for constant copy‑and‑paste and repetitive data entry.

Claude now maintains a single, continuous conversation that spans both applications. Users no longer have to repeat themselves or re‑enter the same data when switching from a spreadsheet to a slide deck. The AI can read data directly from an Excel spreadsheet and place that information into a PowerPoint presentation without manual intervention.

Skills: Reusable Automated Actions

Anthropic also rolled out "Claude Skills," which are reusable and automated actions that can be saved within the Excel and PowerPoint add‑ins. Once a workflow is identified, it can be captured as a Skill and made accessible to anyone in an organization with a single click. This eliminates the need for users to perform the same steps manually and allows best‑practice processes to be shared broadly, even among those who are not experts.

To help teams get started quickly, Anthropic provides a preloaded set of starter Skills that cover common tasks in both Excel and PowerPoint. These ready‑made automations give users immediate value while they explore custom Skill creation.

Availability and Platform Support

The new shared‑context experience and Skills integration are available starting Wednesday for all Mac and Windows users who are on Anthropic’s paid plans. By offering these features across both major desktop operating systems, Anthropic ensures that a wide range of enterprise users can benefit from the tighter integration.

Overall, the updates aim to save time and effort for professionals who regularly work with data and presentations, such as financial analysts, by allowing them to perform a series of actions without switching tabs or re‑adding data.
