Expanded Data Access for Deeper Insights

Google announced that Gemini’s Deep Research capability now integrates with a range of personal Google services, including Gmail, Drive files (Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs) and Chat. This extension allows the AI chatbot to draw on both public web content and a user’s own documents when creating reports, analyses, or other content. By referencing personal emails, notes, and collaborative files, Gemini can produce outputs that are tailored to the specific context of the user’s work, such as marketing analyses that incorporate internal data alongside external research.

User Controls and Availability

The update gives users granular control over which services Gemini can access. Within the Deep Research interface, a dropdown menu lets users toggle access to Search, Gmail, Drive, and Chat individually, ensuring that only the desired data sources are used. At present, the feature is limited to desktop environments, but Google indicated that mobile support will be rolled out in the coming days. This rollout reflects one of the most requested enhancements for the tool, aiming to make AI‑assisted research more relevant and actionable for professional users.
