Personalized Editing with "Help me edit"

Google Photos introduced a new AI-powered editing assistant called "Help me edit." The tool allows users to make targeted adjustments to portraits and group shots, such as removing sunglasses or correcting closed eyes. The AI draws on other images stored in a user's face groups to ensure changes are accurate and personalized. "Help me edit" can be controlled by voice or text, and the feature is beginning to roll out to iOS users in the United States.

Integration of Nano Banana and the "Create with AI" Section

The next addition integrates Google’s Nano Banana image editor into the Photos app. Users can submit open‑ended restyling requests through the "Help me edit" interface, asking the AI to transform a picture into styles like a Renaissance painting or a mosaic. Nano Banana also powers a new "Create with AI" section that offers templates based on popular requests, helping users jump‑start the editing process. This feature will appear in the Create tab for Android users in the United States and India beginning next week. Google plans to further personalize these templates to match the specific hobbies and experiences found in each user’s photo library.

Expansion of the Ask Photos Search Tool

Following a brief pause and restart in June, the Ask Photos tool is expanding its reach. The AI‑driven search capability will become available in more than 100 new markets and will support 17 new languages, starting this week. This expansion allows users worldwide to locate images in their libraries using natural‑language queries.

New Ask Button for Detailed Image Queries

Google Photos is also adding a new Ask button that provides deeper insight into individual photos. When tapped, users can type questions about the content of a picture, discover similar images in their collection, or begin describing desired edits. This functionality is rolling out initially in the United States and is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
