A group of authors has hailed a forthcoming settlement in a major copyright class‑action lawsuit against Anthropic, the AI startup. U.S. District Judge William Alsup indicated the parties believe they have a settlement in principle and will seek preliminary court approval. The case, certified as the largest copyright class action of its kind, could involve up to seven million claimants and has raised concerns that a full‑scale claim could financially cripple the AI industry.
