New Relic’s No-Code AI Agent Platform

New Relic introduced a new platform that lets enterprises build and operate AI agents without writing code. The solution, called the New Relic Agentic Platform, enables companies to assemble data‑observability agents that continuously monitor applications and infrastructure to detect bugs and performance issues before they affect users. The platform offers pre‑built agents that can be deployed quickly and provides tools for managing existing bots. It also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that connects AI applications to external data sources, and integrates seamlessly with other New Relic products.

Brian Emerson, New Relic’s chief product officer, explained that the platform is purpose‑built for observability outcomes rather than a general‑purpose AI solution. He emphasized that the goal is to give clients the same agent‑building capabilities they see elsewhere while keeping the focus on the specific problems faced by observability personas.

Integration with the Broader Ecosystem

The platform is designed to work alongside tools and services from other vendors. New Relic acknowledges that companies such as Salesforce and OpenAI have already released their own agent platforms, and the firm aims to complement rather than replace those solutions. In addition to the AI agent platform, New Relic announced new capabilities for OpenTelemetry (OTel), an open‑source framework for collecting telemetry data. The company upgraded its application performance monitoring (APM) agents to include OTel support, allowing customers to send OTel data directly to New Relic and manage it alongside other data sources. Nic Benders, chief technology strategist at New Relic, noted that many teams find it burdensome to run OTel collectors, and the new “fleet management” approach simplifies that process.

By consolidating OTel data streams with its existing observability suite, New Relic aims to reduce fragmentation and accelerate enterprise adoption of the OTel standard. The combined rollout of the AI agent platform and OTel enhancements positions New Relic as a more comprehensive observability provider, offering both intelligent monitoring agents and streamlined telemetry ingestion.
