Apple is reportedly in early talks with Google to use a version of the Gemini AI model for its upcoming Siri redesign. Bloomberg reports that Google would train a Gemini variant capable of running on Apple’s servers, while Apple continues to develop two internal Siri prototypes—Linwood, based on its own models, and Glenwood, which would rely on external technology. The decision comes amid delays to Siri’s iOS 18 rollout and internal reshuffling of Apple’s AI projects. If adopted, Gemini could operate via Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, offering added security and putting Apple in a position similar to Samsung’s Galaxy AI, which blends custom models with Gemini.
