Bernie Sanders Advocates for 4-Day Work Week Amid AI-Driven Productivity

  • Senator Bernie Sanders proposes a 4-day work week to benefit workers
  • AI-driven productivity gains could allow for reduced work hours without loss of pay
  • Several companies have successfully implemented 4-day work week models
  • UK trial shows stable revenue and increased productivity
  • Kickstarter and Microsoft Japan report positive results from reduced work weeks

As AI companies tout the productivity gains of their products, Senator Bernie Sanders argues that these benefits should be shared with workers. In a recent interview, Sanders proposed a 4-day work week, citing the potential for increased productivity and improved work-life balance.

Sanders’ idea is not without precedent, as several companies around the world have successfully implemented similar models. In the United Kingdom, a trial of a 4-day work week involving 61 companies and approximately 2,900 workers showed promising results, with revenue remaining relatively stable.

Other companies, such as Kickstarter and Microsoft Japan, have also experimented with reduced work weeks, reporting increased productivity and improved employee satisfaction. Sanders believes that technology should be used to benefit workers, rather than solely driving profits for corporations.
